2012 Show Highlights!

Hiya

Welcome back to SEBerks Gangshow's blog! I really need to come up with a funkier name! Suggestions on a postcard please!

Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite moments from our recent show. We had some ups and downs, and inevitably I reached a point where I wondered if it would ever be alright on the night. But as always happens, not only did we manage to pull it off, but we did it with style!

So what did we do?

Well we started our show with.... The opening! (original, I know!) We gave it a country and western theme, and incorporated a good ol' fashioned barn dance from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, with a linedance by Steps, and culminated in a modern twist on the Hoedown, courtesy of Hannah Montana's Hoedown Throwdown.

I loved this item! The opening is always lively, but the variety and difficulty of the dance steps made it very energetic! I was exhausted before we'd really got started! It was very impressive though how well the younger cast members (and some of the dance team boys!) remembered the steps to the routines, particularly as they were first learnt way back in September at the very first rehearsal!

I also really enjoyed Magic!

Harry Potter!!!!!Yay!!!!!

Moving on... Chicago is always a crowd pleaser, and I think the costumes looked amazing! Our Mama Morton soloist was amazing, and the vocal talents of our All That Jazz soloist were admired by everybody. In fact, all our singers were excellent this year! The harmonies in Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat were very good, and the swell of voices in the finale were fantastic, particularly during Don't Stop Believing.

Weddings was lots of silly fun, with our take on the Royal and Gypsy weddings. The faces pulled by the two bridesmaids here are particularly good! This managed to get both a laugh and a groan of horror, every single night!

But I really think that our best item, that combined the best of both the cast and backstage talents, has to be Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

The story is a classic, and the songs are incredibly catchy. The cast were fantastic and the songs and dances were very lively. The costumes were bright and cheerful, (and slightly terrifying in the case of the Child Catcher). But our best achievement has to be the scenery used. We had a moving doll on a music box and a flying car! Absolutely amazing!

So those were my personal highlights. What do you like?

And remember...

Whattchagotta do?

SMILE!!!!!
